Richie Pepe (Pepe) and Joey Pantoliano (Pants), childhood friends growing up in Hoboken, New Jersey in the 50s, used to sit around the kitchen table with their sizable Italian families, eating pasta and trying to figure out ways to get rich and “live the American dream”—the same dream that brought their immigrant grandparents from South Italy to America. During their high school years, Pepe worked at a neighborhood bakery while Joey took acting classes on the side. Little did they realize at the time how these choices would shape their lives. Pepe went on to become an accomplished restaurateur and entrepreneur while Joey Pants became a highly successful actor.
      One day thirty years later, again over a bowl of pasta, they realized one thing they did well together was to make a great sauce. So there and then the idea of Pèpe and Pants sauces was born.
